little house on the prairie vibes today and a few fresh flowers from a couple of faves (aka my brother & his honey-of-a-girlfriend)

I am absolutely crazy about super girly dresses paired back with significantly less girly shoes and this outfit was really no exception. The masculine/feminine mix is something I seriously live for in any and all outfits. All this look needs is a slightly oversized Acne studios black leather jacket and you’ve got yourself an all-day-everyday-lewk.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Blue Jeans Styled 4 Ways

With Melbourne’s weather doing what it does best this week (aka change between hot/cold/windy & sunny all in a space of 2.5 seconds), I’ve sort of just literally been living in blue jeans – or more specifically these ones from Riders (by Lee Denim). I’ve been changing my top each day to feel a little different but that is pretty much the extent of my fashion-creativity this week. Yep. #basic #sorrynotsorry etcetera etcetera… Anyways – I thought I’d link all my looks for the week here as you guys often ask me for links on my Instagram, so enjoy loves! x

I wore this look to coffee this morning with mama. We went to Clubhouse in Malvern. I ate the porridge & would 10/10 highly recommend it. The end. Here is my look.

So I found this cool vintage Merc on my street and couldn’t not take a photo in front of it, ya feel?

Pretty pink house/wall found mid accidentally open-house-inspection-hopping with my gal pals and pre-french-fry eating. You know how it goes.

Post really-boring-errand-running/coffee-sipping look.

Anyways, I hope you love this little outfit round-up-post! Let me know if you’d like to see more posts like this!

White Top

A couple of shots from yesterdays coffee break.

Mum and I sat at Kirk’s Wine Bar in the city (one of my absolute fave spots in Melbourne just as an aside) for lunch. We shared some polenta chips and dessert, because – Monday.

Anyways, my outfit was super chill – I love wearing all white with gold details all year round and yesterday was no exception. I got this little white top from H&M last week and the trousers from UNIQLO. Belt is vintage Versace (rescued from Mum’s wardrobe and now proudly owned/stolen by me) and my gold necklaces are from CINCO, JOLIE & DEEN or vintage.

I couldn’t find the exact pieces I am wearing online, but the top and pants are in store now! Here are a few similar ones though for all your online shopping needs! 🙂

Staycation Part II

This weekend we stayed at Pan Pacific Melbourne for a much needed little staycation. The hotel is located in the heart of South Wharf about 5 minutes away from Melbourne CBD.

I spent Friday night in their Club Lounge, sipping vino and reading magazines. I actually couldn’t believe how good their magazine selection was… they had all my faves!

Saturday was all about eating. The breakfast selection at Dock 37 Bar & Kitchen was amazing, so much so that we went there for dinner too!

Sunday we went shopping at DFO South Wharf, which is quite literally next door to Pan Pacific Melbourne. I was blown away by some of the deals available at the centre – my favourite retailers to hit up at DFO are always the homewares and designer shops.

Huge thanks to Pan Pacific for the wonderful complimentary stay, we will be back soon! x

Where Does My Inspiration Come From?

Today I wanted to have a chat about inspiration.

I get a lot of questions on my Instagram about where I get my inspiration from and what it is that inspires me on a daily basis. To me, inspiration is a bit of a funny one. It comes and goes in waves and it is something that as a creative, I am constantly seeking out and looking for everywhere I go. It doesn’t seem to matter how ridiculously inspired I am to create a particular type of image, in a particular type of light, wearing a particular kind of outfit, standing in front of a particular kind of background – it kind of never really feels enough – in fact, even when I am able to achieve the kind of vibe/photo I was inspired to create in the first place, the minute that particular ‘project’ (or otherwise) is complete, it is pretty much back to the drawing board… or in my case, back to the mood board. It can be frustrating sometimes – in fact, if I am honest – a lot of the time, as although thankfully I do often feel inspired, achieving the desired image or creative asset is not always as doable. Whether it is time/money restraints or perhaps it’s as simple as sometimes things just don’t turn out the way you thought they would in your mind. In recent years I’ve sort of just learnt to take this aspect of creating in my stride and I guess rather than letting it get me down, I just try and find new ways to create better next time. Plus, if everything went absolutely perfectly every single time I tried to create something – my job/life in general would end up feeling pretty boring…

Anyways, I guess I haven’t really answered the question yet though have I? Where exactly do I get my inspiration from? Well I guess the truth is that I get my inspiration from everywhere, everyone and everything. Whether it be a hidden treasure I find in my mums wardrobe (example this vintage Versace belt I am wearing in these photos!!) or this conveniently placed red car/red door/chic-flower situation we stumbled upon whilst shooting in Fitzroy earlier today… But on days where inspiration doesn’t seem to come as easily, I will look to Pinterest/Tumblr, my favourite movies that I have watched a million and one times before, books, magazines and more often than not – SATC (if you are unfamiliar with the acronym, you do not watch enough of my instagram stories…).

In movies I usually seek inspiration from the way a film is shot, the lighting, the colours or the outfits and will use these ideas as inspiration to create imagery that aligns with my own personal aesthetic and style. From books and magazines, I find the mood or vibe of a character or model can sometimes evoke inspiration and because of this I always keep near to me certain words/images that may inspire an idea or concept in times when I am feeling less creative. Lastly, someone who I have spoken about a few times on my blog in the past is my Mum and her incredible sense of style. A HUGE amount of my favourite wardrobe pieces like these vintage LEVIS jeans or these JAG beige trousers were items I found nestled away deep in Mum’s closet. Her sense of style, particularly as she was growing up, was and still is elegant, comfortable, chic but also has personality and interest… aka the vibe I have been somewhat trying to achieve since forever and always.

Although I do have a relatively specific personal style and aesthetic that is somewhat apparent across all my imagery, I never view my aesthetic as fixed or unchangeable, in fact I like to believe my personal style is in a constant state of development, refinement and change and more often than not – just depends on my mood of the day. In saying that, I guess there are a few things I would just never wear or never shoot. Not because they aren’t beautiful or fabulous in their own right – but more so I guess they just aren’t me. For example – although I do love to wear colour and play around with all sorts of colours, patterns and textures, it is unlikely that you’d ever see me in a head-to-toe bright/patterned/colourful look – it just really isn’t my vibe, and instead I would prefer to mix for example a red tee with white pants, gold jewels and other monochrome accessories (LIKE THIS LOOK) as opposed to an overly complex, super colourful get-up.

Anywaysssss, that is all for today. Over the next couple of weeks I am hoping to share a few of the mood-boards I create when seeking inspiration and also some of my favourite books/movies/tv-shows that I often turn to as well, so let me know if you liked this post and I will continue to share more!

Winter Shopping at Melbourne Central

With winter well and truly here in Melbourne, it is probably time I begin to think about dressing accordingly… As a Summer-baby through and through, I always find winter the most difficult season to adjust to. I simply hate being cold, and although the temptation to spend nights in cuddled up under the doona with a hot cocoa does sound tempting, I can never quite shake my love of those warm summer nights. But alas, if there is only one thing that will get me semi-in-the-mood for winter, it is winter fashion. I absolutely love layering my clothes and adding heaps of accessories to my winter looks like scarves, berets, fedoras and multiple jackets.

This week I went in search of my perfect winter jacket at Melbourne Central. I couldn’t seem to resist the lighter colour palettes, and unlike any true Melbournian – I often veer away from black or really dark colours, so this little shopping expedition was really no exception. In my pursuit for my perfect winter jacket, I found Country Road, Decjuba and General Pants Co to have the best selection. I really gravitated towards anything fluffy, extra warm, slightly oversized and cream/beige in colour.

I ended up selecting this teddy jacket from General Pants Co and opted to pair the look back with a simple white tee, blue denim & a red beret (all available now at General Pants Co at Melbourne Central). I also couldn’t go past this faux fur leopard print jacket; the perfect piece to add a bit of extra lux to a look in winter (available now at General Pants Co at Melbourne Central). I really love both winter jackets and love the idea of pairing them with tights, a mini skirt, OTK boots and a turtleneck for a true Melbourne-winter look.

So what jacket styles will you be getting around this winter? I would love to know your selects too! Let me know below!

Pre-Birthday Flowers

Tomorrow is my birthday (!!) and what better way to celebrate my pending quarter life crisis (half kidding) than with a bunch of fresh flowers from the market.

Recently I’ve loved experimenting with red & pink together, which is so bizarre as for many years this colour clash was somewhat taboo in the fashion world, but I really do think this season this combination has found its place. I’ve been playing around with pink in coats, jumpers and also jeans and matching it with red accessories and details like this beret that I practically live in. I’ve put together a little list of some of my favourites above and also my leeewk – so you can shop it, if you see fit!

Anyways, it is just about time to begin preparing my stomach for what is about to go down tomorrow… I cannot wait to celebrate and more specifically, eat my body weight in chocolate, cake & pizza with all my closest friends & family!!

Coming to you today with a quick look I threw together yesterday for lunch in the city with mum. As Melbourne’s winter is well and truly here, alfresco dining was only made possible with the heaviest, warmest faux fur jacket and a conveniently placed heater right above my head. Anyways, I am utterly obsessed with this faux fur jacket from Viktoria & Woods at the moment, it is the perfect balance between chic and warm and I have been living in it ever since I got it last week. Not only that, but the colours seem to match with everything else in my wardrobe, which is really just a bonus at this point – given I’ve been wearing it with just about every colour combination you can imagine either way. Yesterday I paired it with this stripey red and white tee from The Fifth (coming soon – July) and white trousers from Uniqlo. As always, I love the mix of high and low, and yesterday was no exception – pairing the look with my Louis Vuitton belt and favourite gold jewels.

JW Anderson x UNIQLO

Happy Friday Guys!

I am so excited to share with you today some of my favourite pieces from the much anticipated collaboration between JW Anderson x UNIQLO. This is the second collaboration between the designer and UNIQLO and it absolutely delivered, exceeding all expectations. I couldn’t stray from my love of cream, feminine tops, so this first pick was easy. Pairing it back with a simple cream denim jean and gold details, it is the perfect weekend outfit. The second outfit I went with was this super chic, light-weight pale pink shirt. The bell sleeve detailing and collar frills made for the perfect addition to my wardrobe. I paired the look back with a tie up navy blue trouser, but would love to try styling it with a mini skirt too!

What are your picks from the collection? I would love to know, let me know below
