SPRING RACING CARNIVAL: MELBOURNE CUP DAY

…AND we’re off! The day began at the Blackman Hotel, where I awoke to the sound of my early-morning-6AM wake-up call, courtesy of the hotel concierge, with a tall skinny latte to go; I laced up, wrapped around and zipped up my stilettos, jumped into the nearest Uber & begun the crazy adventure that was Melbourne Cup Day. By 7.30AM I was sipping Veuve Clicquot with Melbourne’s finest & nibbling breakfast sweets from Christy Tania‘s Om Nom at Mon Bijou.

With my ladies, DLSR and Kkhaki-Grecian-Goddess vibes at the ready (OUTFIT COMING SOON), we were one short (traffic-filled) car ride away from Flemington Racecourse. We came, we saw, we concurredor something like that… either way – we had an absolutely fabulous time. The Southern Cross Austereo Marquee was the place to be for the best tunes, champagne and good times. I danced until my feet quite literally went numb, but figured it was one of those totally worth it moments so just ran with it (literally). The Hilton Marquee offered a slightly more sophisticated environment – with a never-ending supply of cheese, cured meats & crackers, the crazy mango-coconut-vodka liquid-nitrogen cocktails flowed as we people-watched and relaxed. Last up was The G.H. Mumm Champagne Marquee, with a flow of never ending bubbles, giggles & fresh seafood, we settled down to watch the race that stopped the nation (#GirlPower – am I right ladies?!).

All up – an absolutely brilliant day of Fashion, with some of my favourite looks and details highlighted below – my best dressed goes to Ashley Hart who colour/pattern-clashed in an insanely cool ensemble from Italian fashion label Stella Jean (see it here).
