Bloggers Guide To Melbourne Location Scouting

As most of you would know, fashion and lifestyle blogging has somewhat recently become a big part of my daily existence. Finding insta-worthy locations to shoot my outfits and other crazy antics around Melbourne is an important task, and one that should not be overlooked! I’ll often spend time scouting locations in Melbourne before I unload my car boot filled with clothes, shoes and bags and commit to a location (usually of the white wall, funky door and/or leafy green variety). So with a chunky DLSR in one hand and my honey Carissa from Design by Aikonik in the other, we spent the weekend discovering some of the most insta-worthy photo shoot locations in Melbourne. And as such, I have created somewhat of a visual guide/step-by-step situation below that will hopefully be of assistance next time your outfit is totally on point and you need to snap a picture of it on the ASAP.

STEP ONE

Head on over to Little Italy, aka, Lygon Street, aka, best coffee/pizza/atmosphere in Melbourne, nice and early and score yourself an all day park somewhere in between Rathdowne, Drummond or Elgin. This spot is now your base for all the magic you are about to create, so ensure it is spacious and easy to get to.

STEP TWO

Any true Melbournian knows that the only way to start any productive day is to line up at your nearest and dearest café for a strong skinny to go (…give or take a mandatory Nutella filled donut…a current Melbourne necessity). And so, I would recommend a coffee from D.O.C Espresso on Lygon Street. Plus, if you give the barista a wink he’ll give you a free chocolate and call you Bella. Just sayin’.

STEP THREE

Now that you are sufficiently caffeinated it is time to shoot. Get lost around Drummond St, University St, Faraday St & Queensberry St, where you will find an abundance of pastel blues, pinks, greys and white walls. Some with bricks/textures/writing/graffiti, some with windows and others with dramatic doors. It is literally a fashion bloggers dream! So many #OOTD opportunities to be had, you’ll barely be able to contain yourself, the excitement will just be too much!

STEP FOUR

Blogging is hard work… You are totally hungry now right? How convenient that you are perfectly situated on the street of Melbournes’ best pizza?! No need to thank me, it is my pleasure. D.O.C Pizza & Mozzarella Bar on Drummond Street; if you ever wonder where I am on a Friday night, it is probably here – eating pizza, drinking vino and flirting with multiple Italian waiters spending time with my friends…

STEP FIVE

Next take a long stroll/short car ride, down to the Royal Exhibition Building outside the Melbourne Museum. A somewhat iconic building for fashion photo shoots and cheeky OOTD snaps and as such, a must visit for all fashion bloggers and photographers of the sort. Here you’ll find all you need; beautiful location, an abundance of inspiration and a variety of clean, simplistic spaces that are quiet and empty. Plus you are like next to the Melbourne Museum & IMAX Theatre, feel free to go get around that.

STEP SIX

Back to Lygon Street and time for ICE CREAM at the best of the best, Pidapipo (…may I recommend one scoop chocolate, one scoop salted caramel and if you’re feeling fancy, a drizzle of hot Nutella sauce)

ANYWAYS Let me know below what you thought of this post and also whether you would be interested in a PART 2!
