With the recent commencement of yet another University Trimester paving the way for 12 weeks of disorganization, sleepless nights and an excessive amount of caffeinated beverages, getting dressed in the morning quickly becomes yet another daily stressful situation to add to my alarmingly long MUST-SERIOUSLY-DO-TODAY-to-do list (…somewhere in between don’t fail law and attempt to maintain a somewhat active social life…). Between running from class to work to a meeting, back to class, to a coffee date, to an event and then back to the library (… side note: I actually do quite a lot of metaphorical running for a person who does no literal running), things can get kind of messy… and by things, I mean my outfit. So, on days, which involve ‘running’, well, I like to keep things simple. ANYWAYS – here is how I wear the same REVIEW CAMBRIDGE FIT & FLARE TRENCH COAT all day long.
8.00AM – 12.00PM: Office Life/ Someone-Please-Take-Me-Seriously Attire.
In the AM I am either at the office [I work part time as a social media consultant & content creator at a Marketing firm!], which is thankfully not an overly fancy affair, hence the denim, booties & belt situation OR I am meeting with a brand/company/label in preparation for an upcoming collaboration for JESSICA & LOVE. In the morning, I prefer to wear something quite simple, usually a white-shirt, statement lip and a couple of gold details- half because #WhereIsMyCoffee – half because, at 7.00AM I am still thinking about my dream where I was totally running from a big scary person, and then Leonardo totally saved my life. Then we got married, the end.
1.00PM – 6.00PM: Creating Content/ Uni-life/ Attempting To Maintain Somewhat Active Social Life Attire
REVIEW CAMBRIDGE FIT & FLARE TRENCHCOAT / COMME DES GARCONS TEE / VINTAGE JEANS / OROTON BELT / DOTTI HAT
In the afternoon I will usually change into something a bit less structured and more sitting-in-class-for-3-hours-at-a-time appropriate. I like to wear vintage denim, pointy-black brogues and hats mostly, and sometimes as it gets a bit warmer I’ll play around with dresses and high-top converse. The trench coat kind of goes ridiculously well with this outfit as it brings out the black details, which further represents the versatility of the coat. I also love how easily it can be dressed up or down depending upon the time of day.
7.00PM – AFTERDARK: Drinks & Dinner with Friends / Heading To An Event Attire
Ahh… Night Time! Time to metaphorically let my hair down (…my hair is always down) and paint the town the colour of my silk neck scarf… or something like that... As it is the middle of icy-cold Melbourne winter at the moment, any skirt situation currently occurring is happening with a side of jeans/tights/thermals (?), and, well – this flawless lace, black REVIEW skirt is unfortunately no exception. When it comes to winter fashion, I’ve always been a big believer of just repurposing summer fashion (I prefer Summer OKAY?!), and by repurposing, I really do just mean popping turtlenecks, skinny jeans, and scarves under and over everything. So far so good. I’ll keep you posted though.
ANYWAYS – I HOPE YOU ENJOYED this post on how ONE (not-so) simple, classical black trench coat with polka dot lining can take you from AM to PM!
